Spruce Kings playoff run ends in defeat with loss to Wenatchee

The 2018 playoff run for the Prince George Spruce Kings ended on a sour note after falling to the Wenatchee Wild 3-0 on Thursday at the Town Toyota Center.

The Wild win the Fred Page Cup claiming the best-of-seven series 4-1, outshooting the Spruce Kings 37-8.

Special teams was the difference as Wenatchee went two-for-seven (2/7) on the power-play while Prince George went oh-for-three (0/3).

Zak Galambos lit the lamp twice on the man advantage while AJ Vanderbeck slid home the empty-netter.

Evan DeBrouwer made 34 saves in defeat in his final BCHL game before heading off to Arizona State next fall.

Chays Ruddy (Graduated), Jarod Hovde (Graduated), Tyson Slater (Graduated) and Kyle Johnson (NCAA)also played their final game of Junior A hockey.

Wenatchee is the first team from the United States to win the Fred Page Cup since the 1979 Bellingham Blazers.

They will now represent the BCHL at the Doyle Cup and will play the winner of the Alberta Junior Hockey League either the Okotoks Oilers or the Spruce Grove Saints.
