Spruce Kings fail to crack Wenatchee in game one of Fred Page Cup

The Prince George Spruce Kings failed to stay out of the penalty box in Wenatchee during game one of the Fred Page Cup Final.

The Wild went two-for-six on the power-play and paced themselves to a 4-0 game one victory on Friday.

A pair of goals by Wenatchee in a span of 57 seconds turned out to be the difference as Sam Hesler and AJ Vanderbeck found the back of the net against Prince George goaltender Evan DeBrouwer.

Jasper Weatherby and Zak Galambos also added singles for the hosts.

Prince George was outshot 56-25, the Spruce Kings only received one power-play opportunity.

Wenatchee leads the best-of-seven series 1-0 with game two set for Saturday at the Town Toyota Centre.

You can listen to the game two play-by-play on 93.1 CFIS FM as Ron Gallo will have the call.

Games three and four will be held Monday and Tuesday at the Rolling Mix Concrete Arena at  7 PM.

Before the game, both teams met a centre ice to honor the all 16 victims from last week’s bus crash involving the SJHL’s Humboldt Broncos.
