In his sophomore season with the Prince George Spruce Kings, Jarod Hovde saw a massive rise in points. Acquired from the Spruce Grove Saints of the Alberta Junior Hockey League early in the 2015/16 season, Hovde had 10 goals and nine assists in his rookie campaign. The final game of the season was a sign of good things to come as he recorded his first BCHL hat-trick in a victory. It was the only hat-trick scored by a Spruce King that season.

Paired up with Kyle Johnson and Ethan de Jong for the majority of 2016/17, Hovde was third in team scoring with 45 points while appearing in all 58 games. His 19 goals were second on the team, six behind leader Brett Mennear. Talking about the Spruce Kings former captain, look for Hovde to have a letter of some kind on his jersey for the 2017/18 season. Known for his work ethic, he’s a player similar in that regard to Brett Mennear. The two were catalysts on the penalty kill, and relied on with valuable minutes.

This past season, Hovde had 13 multi-point games. Twice he had five points in a single game, and four points in one other. He finished the year with eight points in the final eight games, and contributed five points in six playoff games. The Camrose native led the Spruce Kings with five game winning goals.
