| Jordan Inglis (20), seen here in 2006-07, has been awarded a prestigious scholarship |
Jordan Inglis is one of four British Columbia Hockey League graduates that have been announced as recipients of the BCHL/Vancouver Canucks Alumni scholarship.
Jordan Inglis came to the Prince George Spruce Kings at the start of their RBC Royal Bank Cup season in a three team deal involving the OCN Blizzard of the Manitoba Junior Hockey League and the Langley Chiefs of the British Columbia Hockey League. On September 18th 2006, after the Chiefs traded for Inglis with the Blizzard, the Chiefs then traded Inglis to Prince George in exchange for Erick Ruud. Inglis wasted no time getting to Prince George or in making an impact with his new team.
The newly acquired twenty year old forward was on the ice to start the game against the Quesnel Millionaires and off the opening draw walked in and rand his first shot of the goal post. In the second period of that same game, Inglis would find the score sheet with a power play tally to spot his new team with a 2-0 lead. Inglis would finish his senior year with the Spruce Kings second in team scoring with 21 goals and 26 assists. In the post season, Inglis played in 7 BCHL playoff games and all 6 games in the RBC Royal Bank Cup tournament finishing with an average of a point a game (5 goals and 8 assits) including one post season game winner.
In his year with the Spruce Kings, Inglis was named the team's Most Improved Player of the year and also secured a NCAA Div I scholarship with Wayne State University. The freshman played in 38 games, scoring four times and adding a pair of helpers. At the end of the season, the Wayne State hockey program folded leaving Jordan Inglis a free agent that the University of British Columbia quickly called upon. Now into his second season at UBC playing with a long list of BCHL grads, Jordan Inglis has picked up two goals and a couple of helpers in the first ten games.
Joining Jordan Inglis on the recipient list for a share of the Vancouver Canucks Alumni scholarship are former Penticton Vees Matt Grassi, Vernon Vipers Chris Crowell and Powell River Kings Mark McKamey. Grassi, Crowell, McKamey and Inglis join five other previous recipients of the scholarship who will continue to receive funds during the 2009/10 season. With their most recent awards, the scholarship fund has now assisted former BCHL players with more than $260,000 in funding for post-secondary education. |
