Acquired one day before his 18th birthday, Ben Brar made quite an impact in his Spruce Kings debut. The big forward who drove to Prince George on the Friday played that night, and scored an empty net goal against the Nanaimo Clippers enroute to a 6-1 win. Brar came to the team from the Penticton Vees where he had two goals and two assists in 21 games played. Last year with the Vees he had four goals and five assists in 55 games. The big forward listed at 6’2 and 180 lbs is committed to the University of Denver for the 2018/19 hockey season.

Before coming to the BCHL, Brar played two seasons with the Yale Hockey Academy team. With the Elite 15s he had 31 points in 24 games, and followed that up with 59 points in 28 games with the Prep team. His billet brother is Trent Huitema who was acquired from the Surrey Eagles a day before Brar was sent to Prince George as well. The two played in 2014/14 with the Yale Hockey Academy Elite 15’s.
