Ahac Commits to Buckeyes

The Prince George Spruce Kings would like to congratulate defenseman Layton Ahac on his commitment to The Ohio State University Buckeyes Hockey Program.

Ahac, a 16-year-old from North Vancouver, is in his first season with the Spruce Kings, and has totalled 5 goals and 12 assists in 27 games heading into this weekends action. Ahac previously played for West Van Academy’s Elite 15 team, amassing 8 goals and 13 assists for 21 points in 28 games last season.

The commitment was released on Twitter Thursday night by Ahac stating “Very excited to announce my commitment to The Ohio State University. Thank you to everyone who has helped me along the way #buckeyes

Spruce Kings General Manager Mike Hawes adds, “As an organization we are excited for Layton. He is a terrific young man with a special talent for the game of hockey. He is also a driven and motivated young man who will continue to work very hard on his development for the next couple of seasons before joining a great program at The Ohio State University”

Head Coach Adam Maglio echoed that sentiment, “We are excited and proud of Layton’s commitment to play NCAA Div. 1 hockey at Ohio State. We believe Layton is one of the best 16 year olds in the league, we are fortunate to work daily with Layton who possesses elite skill and maturity, and dedication on and off the ice”
