2 Spruce Kings Earn WJAC Invites

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRINCE GEORGE BC – A pair of Prince George Spruce Kings will have the opportunity to earn a spot on Team Canada West for the World Junior A Challenge from December 10th to 16th in Truro, Nova Scotia.

Both Ethan de Jong (99) from North Vancouver, BC, and Kyle Johnson (98) from Port Moody, BC will head to Calgary December 2-5 for four days of practices and games as part of the selection camp at the Markin MacPhail Centre at Canada Olympic Park.

Johnson and de Jong have both had strong starts to this BCHL season, as Johnson has 12 goals and 10 assists in the first 27 games, while de Jong has 9 goals and 22 assists in the same span.

Both players attended last year’s camp, as Johnson was selected to be part of the team and had two assists as Canada West would go on to finish 5th.

Current Spruce King Blake Hayward also played for Canada West in 2016.

Spruce Kings General Manager Mike Hawes states “’We are very happy for Kyle and Ethan. Both are tremendous individuals who play huge roles on our team. They are very deserving of this opportunity to tryout for Team Canada West and I know they will represent themselves and the Spruce Kings organization very well.”
